John Legend – All of me | Sheet Music of my Piano Arrangement online
With all the curves, corners, dead ends, bumpy roads, and one-way streets, life is rarely perfect… but that’s what makes its beauty. With the beautiful words “Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections” by John on my mind, I recorded my piano improvisation almost 8 years ago.
Once again, I dug out an old arrangement from my notebook and transcribed it with the help of my own recordings. Like visiting an old friend, it was nice to let the old ideas flow through my fingers onto the keyboard again. Many parts were familiar, but here and there were some bars that revealed themselves to me in a new enchantment. A beautiful memory, held firmly with notes.
As the song “All of Me” by John Legend is written for voice and piano, the piece takes on a special note when interpreted solely through a piano. When arranging it, I felt that John must have approached it in a similar way. Starting with small melodies, writing the lyrics, adjusting passages, correcting, and then changing something in the lyrics again… a creative seesaw. I believe that the arduous search for beauty and perfection often reveals that true beauty lies in the simple and easy, often imperfect, things. And often, the hidden beauty is only a path to this realization.
