ArrangeMe or Musicnotes Marketplace – Why I decided to publish my compositions on BuyMeACoffee
Why have I chosen to self-publish my compositions, and what does fairness in the music publishing industry truly mean in terms of the value of fairness in music publishing?
Composers and arrangers dedicate countless hours and immense creativity to their work, crafting pieces that resonate with audiences and elevate musical expression. Platforms like ArrangeMe and Musicnotes Marketplace enable creators to share their works with a global audience, but they impose hefty fees on these creators—taking up to 50% of revenue from original compositions and as much as 90% from arrangements of copyrighted works. While it is understandable that maintaining extensive song databases incurs high costs, a more balanced approach would involve lowering promotional fees to attract more musicians to the platform. Unfortunately, this is not the case, especially given the significant effort musicians invest in their work, often receiving minimal compensation in return. This issue is not merely about financial gain; it is about recognizing and respecting the creative process and effort that musicians put into their work.
In response to these imbalanced practices, I’ve chosen to sell my compositions directly through “Buy Me a Coffee.” This platform allows me to maintain greater control over my work and ensure a fairer return for my efforts. While my arrangements must remain on ArrangeMe due to copyright constraints, I offer them at the lowest possible price to stay true to my mission: providing you with affordable access to my arrangements. My goal has always been to share my musical creations widely, enabling you to play my arrangements and compositions without excessive costs or hassles associated with third-party websites.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my followers and subscribers for their unwavering support. Your encouragement and appreciation fuel my passion for creating and sharing music. Together, we can continue to foster a community where creativity is both valued and fairly rewarded.
